This page explains what information this website and Hanlin's advisory team handle when you use en.hanlin.com or get in touch, and what we do with it. It is written to be read, not scrolled past.

Who we are

Hanlin International Education is an education group founded in Shanghai in 2017, operating learning centres in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Hangzhou. This website, en.hanlin.com, is its English-language site. Our Chinese-language site is www.hanlin.com.

What we collect

This site is an informational site. It does not ask you to create an account, and it has no forms that collect personal information. Information reaches us only when you choose to contact us:

  • If you call us, we receive your telephone number and whatever you tell the advisor - typically a student's year group, school type and academic interests, so that we can answer your question.
  • If you add an advisor on WeChat by scanning a code on this site, the conversation happens on Tencent's WeChat platform under WeChat's own privacy policy, and we receive the profile information WeChat shows us plus what you send.
  • If you email us, we receive your address and your message.

Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure keeps standard technical logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type) for security and reliability. We do not use this site for advertising and we do not operate marketing trackers on it.

What we use it for

  • Answering the enquiry you sent - recommending competitions or courses, sending the preparation materials you asked for, arranging a placement paper.
  • Delivering services you subsequently sign up for.
  • Keeping the website secure and working.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except where a service you ask for requires it - for example, registering a student for a competition with that competition's organiser, or filing a UCAS application through our registered centre, in each case with your knowledge.

Students and minors

Our services concern school-age students, so enquiries usually come from parents. We ask for what is needed to advise - year group, school background, academic level - and student results are published on this site only where the family has authorised it.

How long we keep it

Enquiry details are kept for as long as the conversation and any resulting service needs them. If you want the information you have given us corrected or deleted, ask through any contact channel below and we will do it.
