How many APs should a student take?
Quality beats quantity: admits to the most selective US universities typically carry five APs chosen close to the intended major. The subject-selection guide in the starter pack maps the combinations.
Can APs be self-studied and sat externally?
Yes — AP is fully open to self-study, and Hanlin has run AP registration for five years, with three authorised centres securing mainland seats.
When should preparation start?
Prepare in year one of senior high and sit in year two, so scores land in time for applications; later sittings convert to university credit only.
What changes with the 2027 reform?
The College Board has announced regional papers, digital delivery and rewritten syllabuses for 2027, with the full timetable already published — plan the sitting calendar against the new dates.
