What families ask before starting.
Can a student take A-Levels without attending a conventional school?+
Yes. A-Levels can be taken as a private candidate at approved examination centres, or through a structured programme. Hanlin supports both tutoring-only study and a full-time, school-partnered pathway that handles registration, references and the UCAS submission.
How many A-Level subjects should a student take?+
Most students take three to four subjects. The right combination depends on intended degree courses and university requirements.
Which exam boards does Hanlin work with?+
Hanlin supports registration with the three principal UK boards used internationally: CAIE, Edexcel and AQA.
Is one exam board easier than another?+
Hanlin's Chinese website notes that many students find CIE and Edexcel more approachable than AQA, and that boards run multiple examination series across the year. Board choice should follow the student's school context and subject; current session dates should be confirmed with each board.
Does a student need IGCSE before A-Level?+
IGCSE is the usual pre-16 stage and gives a strong foundation, but it is not strictly required. Hanlin also teaches IGCSE for students preparing to step up to A-Level study.
